Former military airfield which has been converted to airport after soviet collapse. It was an interceptor aircraft base, operated by 366th Interceptor Aviation Regiment and possibly the 655th Interceptor Aviation Regiment, which flew MiG-23 aircraft from the 1970s until the 1990s. Currently airport has scheduled passenger flights to Kihnu and Ruhnu islands.

    In accordance with the Estonian AIP declared runway distance has been reduced to 799 x 23.
