An old aeroclub airfield with a long and wide grass runway. Cesis was widely used for glider operations within DOSAAF during soviet times. Today it is home base for Vidzemes Aeroklubs and is still used by glider pilots, as well as by several private aircraft owners.

    It would be honest to say, that rwy is not so wide. In summertime, it’s narrow strip of mowed grass and both sides are used for plants. In winter time, when it’s cleared, it’s also very narrow, so be extremely careful while landing here at this time. But overall runway condition is good and it’s well drained after rains.

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah, this 650m comes from old sources when the field was used for DOSAAF gliders and then it was literally possible to land any direction. Now the grass is being cut around 20m wide, so I will correct the info.
